About the company
New Orleans, 2010 — a holding company built around one idea about how consumer data gets collected.
The company
A holding company, not an agency
Jackson Square Group does not field surveys itself. It builds and backs the software firms that do, and it holds them.
Jackson Square Group is a New Orleans based holding company that primarily invests in market research technology firms such as Federated Sample.
On LinkedIn the company describes the same work in the present tense: technologies that maximise the efficiency and effectiveness of gathering data and intelligence from consumer markets.
The name
Named for the square
The company took its name from Jackson Square, the 1721 plaza in the French Quarter that the city treats as its front room. It was founded in New Orleans in 2010 and has been identified with the city since.
Its first office was in LaunchPad, the co-working space on Magazine Street, and the company later stayed on the same street.

How it is structured
One holding company, one operating bet
The group built a platform for the online sample marketplace, ran it through Federated Sample, and held the equity. When that company rebranded as Lucid in 2017 and took outside capital, the operating business and the holding company became different things.
What it invests in
Market research technology firms — software for collecting, routing and quality-checking consumer data.
Where it works
New Orleans, with a second office in Midtown Manhattan for the commercial side.
Who runs it
A three-person management team: Patrick B. Comer, Christopher B. Schultz and J. Walton Comer.
